Translation (Simple Words)
Our Lord, truly, the one whom You throw into the Fire – You have disgraced him. And the wrongdoers have no one to help them.
Our Lord, we heard someone calling us to believe – saying: "Believe in your Lord" – so we believed.
Our Lord, forgive our sins, erase our bad deeds, and let us die with the good people.
Our Lord, give us what You promised through Your messengers, and do not embarrass us on the Day of Judgment. You never break Your promise.
What This Du’a Teaches Us (Interpretation)
1. Hellfire is True, and We Want to Stay Away from It
The Du’a starts with fear and hope. It says:
“Whoever goes to Hell has been disgraced.”
No one wants this shame. It is a strong reminder that Hell is real. Being thrown in means complete loss.
2. Faith Begins with Listening to the Call
“We heard a caller calling to faith, saying: Believe in your Lord – and we believed.”
This is about Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and how people accepted Islam through his message. It shows the importance of listening, believing, and acting on truth.
3. Asking for Forgiveness with a Clean Heart
“Our Lord, forgive our sins and remove our misdeeds.”
We are not perfect. We sin and make mistakes. But Allah is Most Forgiving. This part of the Du’a is full of hope and humility.
4. Wanting to Die Among the Righteous
“Let us die with the righteous.”
We ask Allah to let us leave this world while we are on the right path – surrounded by good people, with a clean heart.
5. Belief in the Promise of Allah
“Give us what You promised through Your messengers.”
This refers to all the good that Allah promised: Jannah (Paradise), peace, rewards, and mercy. We are holding on to Allah’s promises and trusting Him.
6. Fear of the Day of Judgment
“Do not disgrace us on the Day of Judgment.”
The Day of Resurrection is a serious day. We ask Allah not to humiliate us in front of others. This part reminds us to stay humble, sincere, and focused.
