رَبَّنَاۤ اِنَّنَاۤ اٰمَنَّا فَاغۡفِرۡ لَنَا ذُنُوۡبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbanâ Innana Amannâ Fa-Ghfir Lanâ Dhunûbanâ Wa-Qinâ Adhâban-Nâr
Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
“Our Lord, indeed we have believed…”
This shows that belief (Iman) is the foundation. It's the first step in our journey to Allah. It means we accept the truth of Islam, the Prophets, and the Day of Judgment.
“…so forgive us our sins…”
After belief, we admit our flaws. No one is perfect. This part is about turning to Allah and saying, “I’ve made mistakes — please erase them.”
“…and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
This is a plea for safety — not just in this world, but in the next. Hellfire is real, and the believer always seeks Allah’s mercy to avoid it.
